Mint Julep
The Mint Julep originated in Kentucky. Originally concocted for a Southern General that couldn't stand the harsh burn of whiskey.
It is made from four simple ingredients:
- 1 pint of crushed ice
- 3 oz. of Brazos Bourbon
- 2 oz. simple syrup
- 11 fresh mint leaves finely pulverized
You will need a blender to crush the ice, a mortar and pestle to pulverize 10 of the mint leaves, and a glass measuring cup. Oh, and a Clear Glass.
Once the mint is pulverized, place it in a fine strainer or a funnel lined with cheesecloth and then pour the simple syrup through the strainer, followed by the Bourbon. Pour this over the crushed ice and garnish with the remaining mint leaf. Enjoy your new favorite drink!
